Goals

My goals are seen as a better possibility being as how I am an American citizen. I plan on graduating college and although I am not sure what career I want I plan on finding it eventually, but college graduation is a definite goal that has been made more likely due to the "American" advantage. I truly am grateful to be citizen of the United States for the benefits that are accompanied by my citizenship. I can say now that I am not a "typical" American because there is no such thing "American" is a point of view that differs between people. I now know the extent of my American-ness.

Experiences

My experiences differ alot from that of my mom. I have the advantage of know the english language very well. She on the other hand can understand it for the most part but has trouble speaking it. That in turn makes it so that she has to have a translator alot of times. Every day I can see myself trying to be turned into the "typical" American. I cannot say that I am for assimilation I refuse to become something that I am not even if I may appear to be "American."

Am I proud

To be completely honest I get confused whether or not to be proud to be "American", because the world itself does not know whether America helps or worsens problems. Without a doubt I am proud to be a citizen because it has given not only myself but my family a better chance at a good life.

What makes me american

I do not see myself as an American literally. I see myself as an American citizen I am, I was, and I will always remain Puerto Rican. I cannot say that i feel American because it is hard to say what American is. The term itself can be misunderstood by many. On a scale of 1 to 10 I would say I am about between 5 and 6 because although I live in America and my life is in America my background my roots my beginning was in Puerto Rico.

Becoming American

When I was almost two years old my family moved to the United States. It was there that our lives as American citizens began. Although we are Puerto Rican we are deemed american due to the fact that we are legal citizens. Since the day I arrived in the U.S I can say I have had several American experiences.
